About Elizabeth Ward, MS, RDN

I am a registered dietitian, writer, nutrition consultant, and mother of three living in the Boston area. I am the author of several books. My latest book, which I co-wrote with my friend and fellow dietitian Hillary Wright,  is The Menopause Diet Plan: A Natural Guide to Managing Hormones, Health, and Happiness  (August 25, 2020). I am also the author of Expect the Best, Your Guide to Healthy Eating Before, During, and After PregnancyYou can read more about these, and other, books here.

As a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for nine years, I was interviewed by CNN, U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, and The Boston Globe, among others. I’ve been a guest on The Today Show, The Dr. Oz Show, and regularly appeared live on Boston 25’s Morning News in Boston for six years. In 2011, I was honored to receive the Media Excellence Award from my peers at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Most importantly, I am a mom and wife who tries to feed herself and her family right. I know that everyday life often gets in the way of your best efforts to live healthy and to make sure your loved ones do the same.

About Better Is The New Perfect Blog

Eating a balanced diet and including enough exercise can be difficult when you’re busy or confused about how to do it all. You may feel guilty for coming up short on your fitness goals, but that does you no good. If having three children and juggling work and family has taught me anything, it’s that trying to be perfect can make you crazy. I’m here to show you that when it comes to your health, good is good enough.

You may want to change some of your eating or exercise habits (I know I do!) that are holding you back from better health. Change is hard, but I believe in doing what you can when you can. My books and my blog offer a balanced take on nutrition, physical activity, and health issues. I welcome your thoughts, but I don’t tolerate fanaticism, criticism of others’ views, or angry rants.

My Disclosure Policy

My reputation is important to me, and I want you to know that I am a paid nutrition consultant for some companies and commodity boards. I only work for products or services that I believe in. My blog views are my own. If I write about a topic that has anything to do with a client, I will let you know, and you can judge my work for yourself.
